The Ridge Recovery Center

The Ridge Recovery Center

The Ridge Recovery Center will be open in 2023, offering state-of-the-art residential substance use disorder treatment in Windham.

The Ridge - logoLocated at 289 Windham Road, Windham, the center will operate under the umbrella of Rushford, a Hartford HealthCare Center of Excellence, and a leader in substance use prevention and treatment for more than 40 years. A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the renovations needed to open The Ridge. The facility will treat alcohol, opioid and all other substance use disorders.

Privacy and healing spaces

The facility will feature multiple private suites, each featuring a single room, a private bathroom and living space, to complement larger gathering areas, private meeting rooms, a comfortable dining room, a fitness gym, and offices. The site also includes peaceful outdoor spaces and walking trails ideal for activities such as outdoors therapy sessions, yoga, expressive arts, and other adjunctive therapies and leisure activities.

Hartford HealthCare’s goal at The Ridge is to create a healing space at a level of care not currently easily available for those living with addiction. There has been a reported 14.6% increase in opioid deaths and the pandemic has had a significant impact on alcohol use disorder rates, with many people crossing the line from risky use to more dangerous levels, or people who have returned to use of alcohol with stress and isolation.

Top notch services close to home

The Ridge will allow people to get a higher level of care in a private, professional atmosphere. People have few choices when it comes to residential treatment for substance use disorder. This will offer people a choice close to home.

HHC’s goal is to expand Rushford’s ability to provide care to persons living with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and seeking recovery into the Eastern region of the state. Therapists work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that meets you wherever you are in the recovery process.

The Ridge will include inpatient substance abuse treatment for adults, 18 and older, including withdrawal management (also known as “detoxification”), and inpatient residential treatment. Psychiatric expertise will be available for patients with co-occurring psychiatric disorders.

Family and support system involvement is an integral component of the recovery program. Education and resources will help your family support you as you journey through the treatment process.

After stabilization in residential care, clients will transition to Rushford or other BHN outpatient programs near where they live to continue treatment as part of an individualized treatment plan. Both Natchaug and Backus have programs nearby in Eastern Connecticut, while other BHN programs are spread throughout the state.
