Educational sessions are held weekly, and treatment team conferences several times per week where the faculty and resident interact directly on patient care.
Grand Rounds take place monthly, as well as didactic lectures by the faculty and the resident that ensure quality educational presentations for the all staff.
The resident/fellow will attend national CME meetings such as the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and other Addiction Medicine related CME meetings as well as didactic lectures given by faculty within the Hartford Healthcare institution.
Basic science and core concepts are:
Overview of addiction treatment, pharmacological interventions, co-occurring addiction and psych disorders, pain and addiction, child and adolescents’ medical disorders and complications of addiction are among the expected topics. Genetics, neurobiology of addiction, epidemiological concepts and trends, prevention SBIRT, management of inpatient and outpatient intoxication and withdrawal are some others.
